The Bill has provision of self perceived gender identity and screening process to recognise the identity of the transgender person. But if a transgender is denied a certificate of identity by the screening committee then this Bill doesn’t provide any mechanism for appeal or review of such decision of the committee.

Remember: MPs who have spoken up on LGBTQIA+ rights or trans* rights are not automatically queer-friendly MPs. State of the QUnion is not meant to celebrate those who have spoken up for equal rights but is rather meant to be a platform for accountability to demand action from our elected representatives.
